Magic of the Nile is similar to many other games that you might play at a casino online, as it has a 5x3-reel structure, which you’ll find in many other slots. Other general features include its 30 paylines, which allow for a considerable number of possible winning combinations.
What’s more, in the Expanded Reels feature, the reels can expand to a 5x6-reel structure, which adds a whopping 75 paylines! We’ll explain a bit more about this feature further along in this post, but before we do, we’ll move to an explanation of all the elaborate visual elements.
Graphics
As you might know from playing other well-known Ancient Egyptian-themed games, there is a wealth of possible symbols that could be on the reels, from animal gods and goddesses to sumptuous jewels and hieroglyphic symbols.
In Magic of the Nile, the highest-paying symbols are the pharaoh and the goddess, both of whom are wearing elaborate headdresses fit for royalty. You’ll also find the typical A, K, Q, and J card symbols on the reels, as well as a pyramid bonus symbol, a golden scarab scatter and of course, the cat goddess Bastet and the jackal/dog god Anubis.
Besides all the beautifully crafted symbols, the background of the game, which is set against the inimitable pyramids, will make you feel like you’ve travelled thousands of years back in time, and are standing right in front of the famous Giza pyramid complex, and next to the mighty Nile. Except this time, you’ll also see three impressive obelisks to your left. All are key to the main features of the game, which we’ll talk more about.
Gameplay
To start playing the game, all you need to do is select your bet level, and start spinning. As in many other online slot games, the gameplay isn’t complicated at all, as each spin will bring up a random assortment of symbols, which are all unpredictable.
There are many thrilling features to look out for though, which include two kinds of wilds, a free spins round and an Expanded Reels feature, which all add a welcome element of surprise to the game – when they happen to come your way, of course.
Bonuses and features
First of all, let’s cover the wilds. There’s a Multiplier Wild, which will give you double the payout when you land this symbol as part of a winning combination. As you will see to the left of the reels, the Multiplier Wild has its own obelisk. So does the Random Wild, which only provides a regular payout, but does “shoot” out random wilds onto the reels when you activate this feature.
You can do so by landing scarab scatters on the reels, which will “load up” an obelisk in three sections. In other words, you need to land 3 scatters (which have the corresponding jewel colour – green, red or blue) to fill in any/each of the obelisks and activate the feature associated with them. The same applies to the Expanded Reels obelisk, which is also activated by 3 scatters, but which expands the reels and adds more paylines, for more epic wins.
Other features include the Free Spins round, which you can trigger by landing 3 bonus pyramid symbols. You’ll get 8, 10 or 12 free spins if you land 3, 4 or 5 pyramid symbols, respectively. If you manage to retrigger the round, you could win up to 50 free spins!
